Analox Military Systems attend SMERWG as primary sponsors

Analox Military Systems (AMS), attended the NATO Submarine Escape and Rescue Working Group (SMERWG) in June as primary sponsors

 

Vicky Pigg, Sales and Marketing Director, and Jo Burke, Key Accounts Manager, attended the event which was held in Portsmouth from 7 to 10 June, with an official industry reception on 8 June.

 

The event brings together submarine operating nations and industry, and encourages the development and implementation of military standardisation within the global Submarine Escape, Rescue and Abandonment (SMERAS) community.

 

This includes, but is not limited to, techniques and training methods, presenting and recommending new equipment and communications related to submarine emergency situations.

 

The industry reception was first set up in 2005, and is now an established part of SMERWG, after it was identified that there was a need for industry to be available at this event to assist with technical issues which were being raised during conferences.

 

115 delegates from 23 countries were in attendance at this year’s event, and the industry was represented by 19 companies including JFD, Sonistics, Babcock and Marine Rescue Technologies.

 

Vicky said: “We were proud to be a primary sponsor of SMERWG and it was great to see it so busy throughout the duration of the event.

 

The four days in Portsmouth gave us the chance to network with several nations and discuss the status of the industry.

 

We understand that atmosphere monitoring requirements may vary for different types of submarines, so we demonstrated a range of our fixed and portable devices, as well discussing our capabilities in designing bespoke solutions to meet specific criteria.

 

There was some interest in our products including our central atmosphere analyser (AA) that monitors up to 30 gases from various locations, our distributed atmosphere monitoring system and the Sub MkIIP.

 

We’ve identified some great key opportunities where we could assist with gas detection solutions, including future boat designs to help improve the welfare and safety of the crew.
