UK engineering services group Babcock International announced on 31 May that it had secured a three-year extension valued at GBP225 million (USD300 million) to an existing contract to provide in-service support for the Royal Canadian Navy’s fleet of Victoria-class submarines.
“The contract which has been extended to 2021 is the largest naval in-service support contract in Canada,” Babcock said in a statement.
“It will see more than 400 highly experienced Babcock engineers, project managers, and specialist support staff continue to support all four [Victoria-class] submarines in refit and in service, including deep maintenance periods as required.”
