FET brings new CNC-machined ROV to market

Forum Energy Technologies (FET), a global company with UK facilities, has launched XLX EVO III — its latest ‘Work Class’ ROV (remotely-operated vehicle). Designed to undertake a broad spectrum of underwater tasks, the new vehicle is equipped with larger thrusters for increased through-water performance — and can carrry a market-leading 500kg payload.

Moreover, the vehicle — built at the firm’s UK manufacturing facility at Kirkbymoorside in Yorkshire and supported by organisation’s global network of bases — has a new frame. This is now CNC machined and provides ‘an improved layout both for maintenance access and tooling capability’ — plus the through-frame-lift has increased to 4,000kg, a rise of over 30% from the EVO II.

The XLX EVO III also comes with improved ‘pilot chairs or console’, as well as ICE Unity, FET’s latest control software, which enables remote operations. FET says further enhancements are planned by its team.

Kevin Taylor, FET’s vice president of subsea operations, said: “For over 50 years, our ROVs have been the standard bearer for heavy-duty subsea operations, and we are thrilled to now bring to market the next generation. FET’s Work Class ROVs are renowned for being rugged and reliable, but the XLX EVO III is equipped with ‘cutting edge’ technology that enables operators to fly with poise, precision and confidence. We are excited to see the results that our latest ROV, designed for an optimised performance, will generate.”
