The London headquarters of safety and survival equipment and services providing Survitec Group Limited has purchased Abteilung Seerettung (Life Saving Appliances), part of the larger Gummi Hasenkrug GmbH company in Germany. The asset purchase will see the transfer of employees and assets at two sites located in Bremerhaven and Emden, furthering Survitec’s plans for expansion of its global servicing division. Survitec was acquired by global private equity firm Warburg Pincus in 2010. In the last year, the Survitec Group has acquired the marine division of Cosalt PLC, and the commercial marine businesses DBC Marine Safety Systems and Zodiac SOLAS. These acquisitions have expanded the global footprint of Survitec’s services and distribution centers while increasing the volume and variety of products and services available to Survitec customers.
Simon Withey, CEO of the Survitec Group said, “Bringing Abteilung Seerettung into the Survitec Group is an extremely complementary move that reinforces our position in the servicing market. Both companies understand that today, in our current economic climate, great customer service coupled with experienced and knowledgeable staff is the key to winning and keeping business. I’m excited about the opportunities this will bring for our customers and for our new employees as we look to broaden our product range and servicing capabilities at all our key locations.” The Bremerhaven and Emden operations will provide inspection, servicing and sales of multi-branded lifesaving appliances including life rafts, lifejackets, immersion suits and boats. They will also provide fire fighting equipment and davit inspection services and a range of mooring ropes for marine and industrial use. Customers will also be able to benefit from new life raft hire and exchange services, recently launched by Survitec Group as part of its new Global Services capability.
