The Long Ride 2013 is happening between 3 – 19 May 2013 (dependant on your point of origin).   This is a ride in support of raising funds to combat prostate cancer.   One significant statistic that I've discovered is that 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with this cancer.   To give that some realism, today we have 56,529 military members 86% of which are male and 23,209 APS staff, 59% being male.   On that basis, of the 62,364 males currently employed in Defence nearly 8,000 men will be diagnosed with this disease.   It is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australia today.   How many will you know?
