Road closure warning in Barrow as BAE Sytems moves nuclear submarine sections

BAE Systems is warning of traffic disruption Barrow-in-Furness on Wednesdsay and Thursday when two nuclear submarine sections will be transported through the town.

The first, at 2.30pm on Wednesday, October 14, will be from Associated British Ports to the New Assembly Shop in the Top Yard. The movement, via Ramsden Dock Road, Michaelson Road and Bridge Road, will take approximately 30 minutes and police roadblocks will be in place.

The operation will require parking restrictions along the centre of Michaelson Road and on Bridge Road outside the BAE Systems main reception. Cones will be put out on Tuesday night.

Those restrictions will then be left in place on Wednesday night to allow for a subsequent movement on Thursday, October 15. This time the movement is between Associated British Ports and Devonshire Dock Hall, via Ramsden Dock Road, Michaelson Road, Bridge Road and Walney roundabout, beginning at 9.15am.

Police roadblocks will again be in place and the disruption is likely to last 45 minutes.
